Tsurumi has supplied a medium-sized unit of its C series wastewater pump to a municipal operator experiencing blockages and it has effectively eliminated the problem.

One of the main challenges in pumping stations is pumps that clog because of too many household wipes and other similar material. The operator decided that a substantial increase in maintenance effort and cleaning several times a week made operation uneconomical.

Tsurumi supplied a medium-sized unit of its C series wastewater pump. It can be set up vertically or horizontally and has an impeller and suction plate with a tungsten carbide blade which form a cutting mechanism that effectively crushes solids in the wastewater, literally slicing through thick fibre plaits.

The 100C43.7 type pump has an output of 3.7 kW and rotates at 1450 rpm. It moves 1700 l/min and pumps up to a maximum head of 16 m. Horizontal installation leads to improved cutting because no material is caught on the pump feet.

After several months of using the pump, the operator reported that blockages and clogging had been eliminated.
