Sulzer expands Baton Rouge service centre

Sulzer is expanding its Baton Rouge service centre in Louisiana, USA to support operators of rotating equipment in the US Gulf Coast area.

The new purpose-built addition will enhance the service capabilities of the centre which specialises in repairs and re-engineering for all types of rotating machinery including pumps and small steam turbines.

The expansion will add 7200 sq ft of floor space to the existing 10 500 sq ft facility. New cranage will double the current lifting capacity from 10 to 20 tons. A large blasting and paint booth will be added, along with extra machining capacity.

Sulzer plans to hire new mechanics, machinists, office staff, sales teams and apprentices from the local area.

“The new facility expansion will allow us to repair larger vertical pumps than ever before locally, optimising project times,” said Glenn Doerksen, Sulzer’s president of Pump Services NAM. “Additional equipment such as 3D scanners will enhance our repair and reverse engineering work for equipment from all manufacturers. This growth also enables us to support the local community by increasing job opportunities in the area.”
