Ebara Corp has secured a contract to replace and upgrade the company’s pumps installed at the Zai Water Supply System in Jordan.

A project to improve the 30-year old facility, which supplies water to Jordan’s capital Amman, involves three water intake pumps, 12 raw water pumps and three transmission pumps.

There is a difference in elevation of more than 1260 m between Amman and the water source in Jordan Valley. The project’s main challenge is to provide a stable water supply while achieving enhanced operation with maximized cost/energy effectiveness.

The project, which will run from June 2021 to May 2023, is being executed under the Grant Agreement between Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Jordan.
